Cheek augmentation is a surgical procedure that Dr. Wheeler performs to inject fat into the cheekbone area. He is then able to shape and fashion that area to meet your expectations. In his preliminary consultation, Dr. Wheeler will discuss your expectations and the procedure he will be performing.
Specific surgical techniques
Dr. Wheeler performs the surgery using either a local anesthetic or general anesthesia. It is an outpatient procedure that often takes less than one hour. The incisions are made in the upper lip to hide the scarring. Implants are then inserted.
After the surgery
Some mouth and facial movement may be restricted, and that can lead to the necessity to alter your diet for a short period of time. Dr. Wheeler uses sutures that will dissolve within ten days after surgery. Dr. Wheeler will discuss with you how your activities may need to be restricted following the surgery.
