To reduce the likelihood that you will bruise from injectables we suggests that unless you have a medical condition that would make it necessary, you should stop taking aspirin, ibuprofen, fish oil or other antinflammatory medications at least 5 days prior to your appointment.

How does Juvéderm™ work?
Juvéderm™ works in two ways: it softens wrinkles and contours around the cheekbones and jaw line by adding volume to deficient areas of the skin and is a source for continuous skin hydration to sustain that soft look. It is a synthetic rather than animal-based dermal filler, eliminating concerns over allergies that animal-based products may cause.

The Juvéderm™ treatment is very safe. The basic component, hyaluronic acid, has been used for many years to promote tissue healing following cataract surgery and as a treatment for knee joint pain.

Juvéderm™ has been clinically proven to be an effective dermal filler for all skin types and tones. The gel formula is very smooth to help create more natural, longer lasting results for six to nine months.

How does Restylane® work?
Like Juvéderm™, Restylane® is a hyaluronic acid compound, a substance that occurs naturally in the body. It is injected into the dermal layers of the skin where you want more fullness and volume, such as the areas around the nose and mouth. The treatment also adds moisture and lubrication to your skin, making it feel smoother and softer. Because Dr. Sandel injects small amounts of the compound into the affected areas, the treatment could take up to 30 minutes. The treatment is safe and relatively pain-free.

Restylane® is a clear gel compound called NASHA (Non-Animal Stabilized Hyaluronic Acid) to help prevent the allergic reactions that might result from animal-based products. The effects of the Restylane® treatment should last six to twelve months.

How does Perlane® work?
Like Restylane®, Perlane® adds volume and fullness to the skin to correct moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds, such as the lines from your nose to the corners of your mouth (nasolabial folds). Perlane® is a clear gel formulation of hyaluronic acid that is specifically formulated to add volume like your body's own hyaluronic acid.

What makes Perlane® different is the average size of the particles and the depth of injection. On average, the gel particles in Perlane® are larger than those in Restylane®, which makes Perlane® a good choice for wrinkles that benefit from a deeper injection into the skin.

How does Radiesse® work?

How does Sculptra™ work?
Sculptra™ involves a series of injections and is not an immediate filler, so results will take a little time to appear. Sculptra™ works gradually by helping replace your lost collagen and providing you with a soft, natural look. A typical patient receives three to four injections six to eight weeks apart. Unlike some fillers that augment the boney structures of the face, Sculptra™ can provide volume and fill-in areas of the face that don't have an underlining bone. Hollowness in the cheeks or deep lines and folds around the mouth area can be nicely improved by simply increasing skin volume. You will notice a gradual improvement in the contour and fullness in the injected areas, which will last an average of 2 years!
