Botox®, Dysport®, & Latisse®

To reduce the likelihood that you will bruise from injectables we suggests that unless you have a medical condition that would make it necessary, you should stop taking aspirin, ibuprofen, fish oil or other antinflammatory medications at least 5 days prior to your appointment.

How does Botox® work?
Botox® Cosmetic injections reduce fine wrinkles between the eyebrows and diminish the prominence of crow's feet. It is a safe way to temporarily reduce the appearance of fine lines around the eyes and forehead. Botox® Cosmetic is an FDA-approved substance, originally approved as a medical treatment to control excessive contraction of the muscles around the eyes. Because the patients receiving Botox® Cosmetic for that purpose were experiencing smoother skin and less wrinkling around the eyes, it was discovered that a lower dose of the chemical might be used for cosmetic purposes.

Dr. Sandel has recently been named by Allergan, Inc., the makers of Botox® Cosmetic, as the number one injector of Botox® in Annapolis. Botox® Cosmetic treatments are not permanent. The effects last about three to four months on the average. Dr. Sandel may recommend combining Botox® Cosmetic injections with other treatments such as chemical peels, laser skin treatments, and injectable fillers depending on your needs and desires.

How much does Botox® cost?
The cost depends on the amount of Botox® injected. The amount of Botox® injected is based on the heaviness of the muscle action and the areas to be treated. Typically, patients in Annapolis Maryland who undergo Botox® injections regularly can expect to spend between $300 and $600.

How are Dysport® and Botox® similar?
Dysport®, like Botox Cosmetic®, is a protein extracted from the bacterium Clostridium Botulinum used in the treatment of wrinkles and fine lines between the eyebrows, on the forehead and around the eyes (crow's feet).

How does Dysport® work?
With just one injection into each of the five points between and over the eyebrows, Dysport® blocks the signal from the nerve to the muscles, ultimately resulting in a reduction of muscle activity and temporarily preventing contraction of the muscles that cause frown lines.

Treatment with prescription Dysport® can temporarily improve the look of your moderate to severe frown lines. Treatment generally takes just 10 to 20 minutes.

Dysport® treatments are not permanent. Dr. Sandel may recommend combining Dysport® injections with other treatments such as chemical peels, laser skin treatments, and injectable fillers depending on your needs and desires.

How does Latisse® work?
Latisse® makes lash growth possible because of its active ingredient, bimatoprost. Research suggests bimatoprost prolongs the growth phase of lashes, which allows lashes to grow longer, thicker and darker. With Latisse ®, you'll get clinically proven results you can see over time.

Latisse® is FDA approved and effective. It's a once-a-day treatment you apply topically to the base of your upper eyelashes. Patients in a clinical trial saw changes in as few as eight weeks with full results after 12 to 16 weeks. Lashes and youthfulness go hand-in-hand. Studies show that by age 50 women have 50 percent less eyelashes than at age 25. With Latisse®, you can have your youthful eyelashes back in as little as 16 weeks!
